Perthshire Positive Action Awards 2010 PDF Print E-mail
Across the area, Children & Schools, Young people, Communities and Voluntary organisations are using their skills, talents and enterprising spirit to enhance quality of life in Perthshire. Their achievements will be recognised through Perthshire Positive Action Awards 2010 at the annual event ‘Think Global, Act Local 2010’ organised by Perth and Kinross Quality of Life Trust.
You will find attached a form to nominate your organization. Please feel free to forward this letter and form to any other community groups you think deserve to be recognized. Please visit our website www.quality-of-life-trust.org.uk to see who was awarded in previous years. There are 4 categories which are open for nominations:
-          Community Asset – recognizing improvement of a community facility
-          Community Spirit – recognizing efforts of a geographical community
-          Young People – recognizing volunteering in environmental activities
-          Innovative Organisations – recognizing joint working to help people experiencing difficulties
The deadline to receive completed forms is on 24th August 2009. Forms can be emailed to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or sent through normal mail. Letter and entry form are also available from our website. Please do not wait for the deadline to send your entry form.
Awardees will be invited to Perthshire Positive Action Awards 2010 ceremony on 28th October 2010 in Perth. The ceremony is usually well covered by the press. Take this opportunity to promote your achievements.

The Carse Olympics PDF Print E-mail
Perth & Kinross Healthy Communities Collaborative in co-operation with Age Concern and Help the Aged are promoting Falls Awareness Day and this year it will include a event called "The Carse Olympics".
It is a free event for older adults which aims to tie in with this year's Falls Awareness theme, "Get Up & Go!".  It will consist of various physical activities - the Nintendo WII (ten pin bowling), indoor Kurling, Boccia, Basketball hoops and Putting as well as table games.  All older adults from the Carse are invited to participate or spectate and activities are suitable for all abilities.  It will be held at St. Madoes Community Centre (The Old School) on Thursday 24th June 10am - 3pm, refreshments will be provided and lunch will be provided at 12pm.  It is on a drop-in basis for those who do not wish to stay the whole day.
I would like to encourage anyone from Abernyte who is interested to come along for a fun packed day, even if just to spectate and chat.

Thank you to everyone who came to give Willie the postie a fine send off on his last day delivering in Abernyte. He was presented with a cheque for £265 collected by Abernyte residents in grateful thanks for his cheery helpful service over the years. Willie's last delivery
