While this is not strictly Abernyte wildlife, I thought you might like to view a Black Grouse lek which I captured earlier this spring, north of Dunkeld.

Black Grouse are the largest of the British Game birds and their numbers are in serious decline across Europe, where they are on the Red List as being of conservation concern. The males are real show-offs in their black plumage and white tails as they lek, or compete to impress a mate.

I came across this lek just as dawn broke while I was out checking on Ospreys. Have the sound on your PC turned up to get the full effect!
