Yes, I know it is only September but it?s that time of year for the ?Shoebox Appeal.? We managed to send over 250 fun and love filled boxes last year to the Samaritan?s Purse Appeal and dozens of boxes filled with donations of knitwear, stationery and toiletries headed off with Blythswood Care. Through the work of national churches and volunteers, the boxes are delivered to hospitals, orphanages, refugee camps, homeless shelters and impoverished neighbourhoods. Leaflets/labels will soon be available in all four churches and you are encouraged to involve family and friends in your quest to fill your box. A DVD is also available in each church which gives more information. If you don?t feel able to fill a shoebox, bring something along to Church and you can be sure it will be used. |
