Re:Barn Owls 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago
A random thought and quite probably not feasible for all manner of good reasons, but I saw quite a while ago a tv programme on the loss of nesting sites for barn owls through the development and modernisation of farm buildings and in ?Somerset an actual tower was built to provide a suitable site. There are a number of old disused concrete sileage towers in the area. With the addition of a suitable platform and box, might these be converted into des. res. for barn owls?

I think this is a very good idea. Just how many locations are potential sites to put a box into? Please everyone let us hear about sites that you know about. Now we have a barn owl in the area, with luck it could be a pair, let us see if we can offer it a good number of sites in which to bring up a family.

Guardswell say they have put boxes up before and never had them used. They are willing to try again at the farm. Perhaps a suitable site at Outfield as well?
If we can use the silage tower opposite Pitkindie we are nearly joined up to Abernyte hill.

Two separate Barn Owl sighting from last night, on the road up towards North Pitkindie just passed the turn off towards Balbeggie. The bird was very easy to watch, it was just sitting on a fence post looking back at us!
Is this the same bird or pair that has been seen down near Westown?

Irene saw barn owl on fence just above the Berger's road end on Thursday 4th Dec. It flew off towards Milton.

Our local Barn Owl is still around. It was sitting up a tree minding it's own business at 1300 hours today,
Monday 22nd, on the edge of Baledgarno Den just south of the Antiques Centre.
