ABERNYTE COMMUNITY COMPANY

THIRD ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Tuesday 2nd September 2008.

 

 

       Present  :  19 Members         

Chairperson    Helen Richardson

1. APOLOGIES  
           Apologies were received from Mr &Mrs Berger,Mr & Mrs Barton,Mr & Mrs McLeod, Norma Nicoll, Mhairi Hole

2    REPORT BY THE CHAIRPERSON
          Helen reviewed the activities of the Company over the past year and answered a number of questions from members. It was agreed that a Spring time road side clean up was a good idea and that the safety equipment purchased by the Company would be useful.

3. ELECTION OF DIRECTORS
            Dale Dickinson had advised the Directors that she wished to retire.
There therefore arose a vacancy and as no one was proposed at the meeting the opportunity remains available for the election of a further Director  .
            Helen Richardson and Malcolm McSwan retired by rotation but both were available and willing to be re-elected. Both were unanimously re-elected.

4. AUDITORS REPORT.
              In the absence of John Barton his report to members was read by Malcolm Mcswan and was accepted by the meeting.

                 
5. ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS.             
         The Treasurer, Mark Petrie , presented the Report and accounts to members and answered a number of questions . The report and Accounts were accepted.

6. APPOINTMENT OF THE AUDITOR
         John Barton had expressed his willingness to continue and was unanimously re-elected.

 

7. BREATHING PLACES PRESENTATION

           Helen led a presentation with assistance from the various leaders of project sections . The following comments and suggestions arose from the general discussion.
   Pathways
• Use a honeycomb mesh for traffic
• No tar-mac , not an urban path
• A gate barrier is strongly preferred
• Contact the Core-paths group
                    Felling etc
• Keep the views from the top and the seats
                    Nesting Boxes
• The box building event was particularly welcomed
                     Volunteers
• Use the web site and Whats on for progress and volunteer requests
                     Final Report
• Photographs are welcome

The overall approach was supported and the work in achieving the award applauded.

8. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
          Heritage Book-  Anne Davies gave a progress report and advised that the pre-publication reduced price applied to the end of September only. The book will be available from mid- October.
          Community Council-  Members were reminded that the next meeting will be held at Abernyte on the 4th of September.


As there was no other business, Helen thanked all present for their attendance and support and an informal discussion followed.
